 Rose lands in the coastal tourist city of Half Moon Bay in virtual servitude, working for a distant cousin for pennies. Dax has an idyllic existence in San Francisco, living with her married sister. Then the fates change. Rose escapes and lands a job as a singer at an underground speakeasy. Dax wears out her welcome and ends up at a restaurant—in Half Moon Bay.

 After nine years, their paths cross again. But is it too late? Will the lives they’ve led keep them apart? Or will Dax and Rose defy the odds and find a way to be together again?

WHISKEY WAR

Sometimes good needs a little help overcoming evil.

After narrowly escaping death at Devil’s Slide, lesbian couple Dax and Rose look forward to a clandestine life together in Half Moon Bay. Dax’s sister, May, makes the Foster House restaurant their refuge at the height of Prohibition and the dawn of the Great Depression while they sit on a gold mine of stolen whiskey from the local speakeasy.

When Frankie Wilkes, the speakeasy owner and Rose’s employer, suspects Dax might have the whiskey, he makes Rose’s life miserable, forcing Dax to scramble to unload the barrels before he finds them. The trip to San Francisco sparks the attention of May’s husband, Logan, who abandoned her and Dax months earlier. He surfaces in Half Moon Bay, looking for money. He quickly puts a wedge in May, Dax, and Rose’s idyllic life and riles up a nasty competition with Frankie Wilkes. Tragedy strikes, and Dax sees the ugly side of the illegal liquor business when left unchecked.

In comes Grace Parsons, a wealthy Hollywood starlet and Rose’s former lover, with a solution to their problems. However, her bold help spirals into a violent feud that leaves no one in their inner circle untouched. How far will Logan and Frankie go to get what they want? Can Dax and Rose find a way out before the whiskey war takes their lives?

Sometimes winning comes at a high price.

Three years after Whiskey War, Dax and Rose live the high life at the Foster House, running the poshest speakeasy on the west coast. Half Moon Bay is about to claim its place as the top tourist destination in Northern California, with a second club and the remodeled Seaside Hotel under Grace Parsons’s ownership and Dax’s management. Repeal of Prohibition is on the horizon with the prospect of making their illegal liquor businesses legitimate. Dax’s fractured friendship with Charlie Dawson is the only blowback from her battle with Frankie Wilkes. If she could fix it, her life with Rose would be perfect.

Or so Dax thinks until an election sweeps in Roy Wilkes as the new county sheriff. With the law behind him, he’s hellbent on revenge for the death of his brother in the wake of the whiskey war and puts everyone involved in his crosshairs. On day one, he wreaks havoc in Half Moon Bay with arrests and beatings. Nothing is off the table. No one close to Dax and Rose is safe, and they must leverage every resource to protect the people they love. How far will Dax go? Will beating Wilkes at his game come at too high a price? Who will survive to open the last barrel?
